Barry Smith Dental was established in 2002 by Dr Barry Smith within the Schwarz Medical practice in Elderslie. The practice operated as part of a larger medical facility and based itself on high quality family dental care. Due to the rapid growth in the practice, plans were commenced in 2007 to expand the dental facility at the Schwarz practice to cater for increasing patient demands for high quality dental care in this rapidly expanding area.

Unfortunately for various reasons the expansion plans were unable to be fulfilled and alternative options were considered. Despite every attempt to stay as part of the larger family medical facility, there was eventually no other option than to relocate to a larger premises.

A new location was found in the main street of Camden, and after three months of development the new practice was opened in February 2011.

The increased surgery space has allowed for additional staff, with the practice now operating four dental surgeries, with two operated by dentists, one by a dental therapist, and one by a Dental Hygienist.

There are three core functions of our practice that set us apart from other dentists:

CHILDREN’S DENTISTRY – We are one of the only dental practices in Sydney to employ Dental Therapists, who are experts in the care and dental health of children. Because they focus only on the care of patients under the age of 18, they are experts at helping children obtain the highest standard of oral health available. They bring a unique ability and skill to our dental team.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY – the cosmetic demands of modern dentistry continue to expand, and as a result it is important to ensure that our continuing education expands at a similar rate. Our team has advanced training in cosmetic procedures and continue to maintain a high level of knowledge through attendance of national and international cosmetic courses.

COMPLETE DENTISTRY – We believe that each patient is an individual and as a result we want to make sure we discuss all possible treatment options. There is usually more than one treatment option, and the choice of the best option for each patient requires consideration of many factors. We pride ourselves on the ability to offer a wider range of options than most dental practices.
